The Worcestershire village of Wythall is in the Bromsgrove district of the county, and on the outer edge of the village is Inkford Brook. Races were first held there on Tuesday 1st April 1856 when organised by the Warwickshire Hunt Committee. The course was on Mr Frappells’ Farm, with the feature race, the Inkford Brook Steeplechase, won by Pat Manley. It was a further 13 years before the results from the final meeting were recorded on Monday 5th April 1869. Crowds at the meeting were boosted as a consequence of buses being laid on from the Swan Inn on New Street, and the principal race was the Open Hunters’ Plate Chase. The opening Hunters Plate was won by the favourite Hampton Lass, while the principal event fell to Odd Fellow.
